A Golden Pen. Truly Fabulous New Author. Must Read.Loved it. Absolutely fabulous premier book by a new author. As a bookophile familiar with every genre (over 500 books read this year so far and that's par for the course) and literally thousands of authors, I can honestly say that K.D. Harp is one of the best I've seen in a long time. She will draw you in, have you pounding the couch saying "no they didn't!" and definitely being late for any morning appointments after an all night read. Adam and Alexandra are fantastically funny, sexy and they have the best parties! I was fortunate enough to be able to go through Blackmail, White Lies and Code Prodigal back to back. Three days, too many Rice Krispy Treats, little sleep and I anxiously await her next release. Welcome K.D.! I'm thrilled to have such a talent and hope to see you for many years to come.
Glad I bought this book will be a favorite to go back and read again and again.
I picked up this book because I had the opportunity to meet the author. I started the book on Sunday and finished it Monday afternoon.. (Editor note: at 130,000 words, BLACKMAIL is a long novel) I LOVED the story line and the way it was written. (Getting to meet the author was pretty cool too) I'm looking forward to reading her other book 'Code Prodigal' and can't wait for the next installment from Stonecypher.. 'White Lies'... Glad I bought this book will be a favorite to go back and read again and again.
Ahhh!! I must have more!!
I love the characters and the storyline! I am impatiently awaiting the next book. You have definitely hooked me, K.D. Harp!
Wonderful page turner from a new author
This book captured me in just a few pages and kept me interested right to the end. Worst part about it is that the author's next book isn't finished yet! (Editor's note: TRUE COLORS Book II, WHITE LIES went into print August of 2014.) A fun easy read, yet intelligent. Lot's of local Atlanta color also made it interesting to this native. Always good to see good writing, principled characters who develop over the course of the book, and a plot that twisted and turned much like the streets of Atlanta itself.
Fun suspense, friendship and maybe romance?
Like the Janet Evanovitch series, we have a girl, a guy and another guy. But unlike Stephanie Plum, Harp's main character, Alexandra, is a widowed mother of one, unwittingly drawn into a black ops scenario that challenges her mentally, physically and most of all, it challenges her heart. Alternatingly, upbeat, funny and dramatic, Blackmail is a fun read.
A good read. Fast paced, with humor
As another reviewer has noted, this author draws favorable comparisons to Janet Evanovich's style of writing. The lead in the story appears smarter than Stephanie Plum in that I believe Alexandra will learn from her experiences and Plum blunders through the same mistakes over and over. I like that Alexandra has values, and a biting sense of humor. She is no caricature, but a developing character with depth to come.
An author to watch
An amazing new author. K.D. Harp is definitely at the top of my favorites list. I've got the library (thousands, literally) of authors to attest to an educated opinion. K.D. Is the best thing to hit the book world in a long time. I read Blackmail first, White Lies and then Code Prodigal. This book highlights everyone's favorite: a military man with a heart of gold. Admittedly my favorite character was the not so nice guy purely because of K.D.'s talent of getting to the heart (naughty or nice) of her characters. I was immediately addicted. She draws you in. Her attention to detail, both of landscape and character is phenomenal. If you are an Atlanta native her books will be especially enjoyable with a touch of history, landmarks and true southern tradition. She's a talent to watch and an author to put on your favorites list. I can't wait to see what she has coming up next.
Amazing and heart wrenching
Amazing and heart wrenching... Loved getting to step into Adam and Alexandra's lives again. K.D. puts some turns and twists in this story that I never imagined. I love all 3 of her books and look forward to a long and exciting friendship with her and her books...
